Chennai Super Kings defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 6 wickets at MA Chidambaram Stadium on Tuesday to virtually book a berth for the playoffs.
Winning the toss, CSK's captain MS Dhoni elected to bowl first. Jonny Bairstow was dismissed for a duck in his last IPL match of the season but after that David Warner, as usual and Manish Pandey built SRH's inning. Manish Pandey scored a massive 83*of just 49 balls while Warner scored 57 of 45 balls and Vijay Shankar scored 26 of 20 balls to help SRH post a total of 175/3 in 20 overs. Harbhajan Singh took 2 wickets while Deepak Chahar took 1 wicket for CSK.
In reply, we saw a Watson'masterclass' as Shane Watson hit a superb 96 runs of just 53 balls-4 short of a brilliant hundred. Suresh Raina hit 38 runs of 24 balls while Ambati Rayudu hit 21 of 25 balls to help CSK get past SRH's total and win the match by 6 wickets with 1 ball to spare. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Rashid Khan and Sandeep Sharma took a wicket each for SRH.
Shane Watson of CSK was adjusted Man of the match for his brilliant knock of 96 in 53 balls.
With this win, CSK move to the top of the table with 16 points in 11 matches, nearly booking a spot for the playoffs while SRH stand at 4th position with 10 points in 10 games.
