Mumbai Indians beat Chennai Super Kings by 46 runs here at the M.A Chidambaram Stadium on Friday to bring them to the 2nd position in the points table.
Winning the toss, CSK's captain Suresh Raina elected to bowl first as CSK's regular captain MS Dhoni missed Friday's game.
Mumbai's captain Rohit Sharma hit 67 of 48 balls-his first 50 of the season while Evin Lewis hit 32 of 30 balls and Hardik Pandya hit 23*of 18 balls to help MI post a total of 155/4 in 20 overs. Mitchell Santner took 2 wickets for CSK and conceding only 13 runs in his 4-over spell while Imran Tahir and Deepak Chahar got a wicket each.
In reply, CSK's batting order collapsed once again in the absence of MS Dhoni. CSK were bowled out for just 109 in 17.4 overs.Murali Vijay was CSK's top scorer, scoring 38 of 33 balls, Santner hit 22 of 20 balls while DJ Bravo hit 20 of 17 balls which wasn't enough at all. Lasith Malinga took 4/37 in 3.4 overs while Krunal Pandya bowled superbly taking 2 wickets and conceding only 7 runs in 3 overs.
MI captain Rohit Sharma was adjusted Man of the match for his knock of 67 runs in 48 balls.
With this win MI move to the 2nd place in the points table with 14 points in 11 matches while CSK stand at 1st place with 16 points in 12 games.
