IPL 2019 CSK vs DC 01/05/19
Chennai Super Kings thrashed Delhi Capitals by 80 runs here at the M. A Chidambaram Stadium on Wednesday to go back to the top of the table.
Winning the toss, Delhi's captain Shreyas Iyer elected to bowl first. CSK had a bad start after they lost Watson for a duck after facing 9 balls but then Suresh Raina and Faf du Plessis gave CSK the momentum. Raina scored 59 of 37 balls while Plessis scored 39 of 41 balls but again it was MS Dhoni who finished things off in style after scoring a brilliant 44* of just 22 deliveries to help CSK post a total of 179/4 in 20 overs. Jagdeesh Suchit took 2 wickets for Delhi Capitals.
In reply, Delhi wew bowled out for just 99 runs in 16.2 overs and losing the match by 80 runs.
Starting from Prithvi Shaw, Delhi saw a collapse in their batting order. Only captain Shreyas Iyer (44 of 31 balls) and Shikhar Dhawan(19 of 13 balls) reached the double figures. Imran Tahir took 4/12 in 3.2 overs while R Jadeja took took 3/9 in 3 overs.
Man of the match was MS Dhoni for his brilliant knock of 44* in 22 balls and effecting two great stumping and taking a catch.
With this win CSK move to the top of the table with 18 points in 13 games, nearly booking a place in the top two while Delhi move to the 2nd spot with 16 points in 13 games.
