KKR Thrashed KXIP 

Kolkata Knight Riders beat Kings XI Punjab by 7 wickets here at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium, Mohali on Friday to keep themselves alive in the race for the playoffs.

Winning the toss, KKR's captain Dinesh Karthik elected to bowl first. Punjab posted a good score of 183/6 in 20 overs thanks to two quick fire innings from Sam Curran and Nicolas Pooran. Curran scored a superb 55* of just 24 balls while Pooran hit 48 of just 27 balls and they were assisted by Mayank Agarwal who scored 36 of 26 balls. Sandeep Warrier took 2/31 in 4 overs for KKR.
In reply, KKR chased down the target in just 18 overs with 12 balls to spare and 7 wickets remain. Shubman Gill played a superb match winning knock of 65* of 49 balls while Chris Lynn hit 46 of just 22 balls and Andre Russell hit 24 of 14 balls to help KKR get two necessary points. M Shami, R Ashwin and Andrew Tye took a wicket each for KXIP.

Shubman Gill of KKR was adjusted man of the match for his brilliant knock of 65* runs in 49 balls.
With this win, KKR move to the 5th position in the points table, eventually keeping their hopes alive for the playoffs with 12 points in 13 games while KXIP stand at 7th place with 10 points in 13 games, with negligible chances to qualify for the playoffs.
